Uranium does not trade like an exchange-listed metal. Most volume moves under long-term contracts between utilities and producers, and the published spot figure is an assessed monthly indicator rather than a continuous market price.

Supply
Production is concentrated in a few countries, and the gap between mine supply and reactor requirements has historically been filled by secondary sources such as inventories and reprocessed material.
