The short version
We measure which pages are read, using our own software on our own server. We set no cookies to do it and we store nothing on your device. We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party tracker.
If you join the mailing list, we store your email address so we can send you what you asked for.
Analytics
For each page view we record the page, the referring site as a domain only rather than the full address, a rough device type, and the time.
We do not store your IP address. It is shortened before anything is written, combined with a secret that changes every day, and hashed. The record cannot be traced back to you, and the same visitor cannot be followed from one day to the next.
Detailed records are deleted after 90 days. Daily totals, which identify nobody, are kept.
The mailing list
We store the address you give us, when you gave it, which page you were on, and a shortened and hashed record of your network as evidence that consent was given. We use it to send you Out of the GRND updates and nothing else.
A copy of each new signup is passed to our own mailbox through FormSubmit, a third-party email relay.
We do not sell or share your address. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately. You can ask us to delete your address entirely at any time by emailing info@outofthegrnd.com.
Forms
Messages sent through the contact form are stored on our own server. A copy is passed to our inbox through FormSubmit, a third-party email relay. Your browser does not connect to FormSubmit.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email info@outofthegrnd.com and we will deal with it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
